I've been retired from the electrical industry awhile and out of touch with NEC. I was quoted a garage ventilation job by a local vendor in which the 100w vent fan would be located in the attic while the controlling line voltage Tstat would be mounted below the drywall ceiling inside of the garage. A rubber cord would be the power connection from the Tstat through the ceiling to the fan. I looked in the current code and under section 400.12(2) that appears to be a use not permitted. Have I misinterpreted the NEC or missed some other information?
