I am confused about cord usage allowed above a dropped removable tile ceiling. NEC 400.7 (A) (8) USES PREMITTED says cord may be used if part of an appliance made with a cord. NEC 400.8 says cord may not be used behind a dropped ceiling. There are condensing pumps above the ceiling with a cord with a molded connection with no way to remove and install flex or MC. on them. Which part of NEC 400 code applies .

There is nothing in 400.7 that specifically permits cords above ceilings for any purpose.
The HVAC contractor needs to provide you with a hardwired condensate pump.
