I keep seeing in the back of the Electrical Contractor magazine the ad for Voltman Batteries . www.voltmanbatteries.com .

The ad states send us your dead batteries they will rebuild them and send them back any brand 12 - 18 volts $35.00 each

I was wondering if anyone has done this and what was the outcome good or bad?

I've never tried them personally, but my father did (a.k.a. tightwad) and was quite pleased.

I have used interstate brand replacements for dewalt and like them very much. they are cheaper and better (IMO) than the OEM's.

In the larger cities one can usually find a battery rebuilder. Elliott's Hardware in the Dallas area rebuilt my Makita 9.6V battery for $25. They also rebuilt my 3.6V battery pack for my ancient hp-35 calculator so I could sell it for a nice sum. I think they are OK.

NiCd or NiMH

NiCd or NiMH

Has anyone tried getting the NiCd cells replaced with NiMH, which generally have more maHour capability and better recharging life? I don't know if they will deliver the high current of NiCd.

Rattus, I get to the DFW area very often and since Elliots in Grapevine closed up shop, I wonder where the next closest Elliots is? I know I can look up the addresses but it's usually best to ask someone that's really familiar with the area.

Thanks.
