Cords in a manufacturing environment

Have a job where I am supposed to identify code violations and repair them. This plant has been using SO (and similar) cord for years to supply some of their equipment. The drops hang from the ceiling and connect via plugs and receptacles.

To me, 400.7 & 400.8 are clear on this. They should not be used permanently. Anyone have any experience with this?

If these are pendants then they are permitted to be used for as long as you want.

As long as the use is permitted in 400.7 and there is not prohibition in 400.8 then it can be used as a permanent means to connect utilization equipment.
