I am trying to verify whether I am correct in my interpretation of NEC Article 314.28(A)(2) or (3).
My scenario is as follows: If I have a (1 1/2") raceway with (4) #1/0 CU and (1) #6 CU ground conductors. I want to install a 1 1/2" LB into the raceway system. In my reading NEC Article 314.28(A)(2) for Angle or U pulls or Splices If I put a junction or pull box in the raceway it would have to be sized so that the distance between each raceway entry inside the box and the opposite wall of the box is not less then six times the largest raceway in a row. NEC Article 314.28(A)(3) indicates that boxes or conduit bodies of dimensions less then 314.28(A)(1) & (2) shall be permitted for installations of combinations of conductors that are less than the maximum conduit or tubing fill permitted by chapter 9 provided that the box or conduit body has been listed for and is permanently marked with the maximum number and maximum size of conductors permitted. In my experience and with conversations with supply houses it is my understanding that the permanent markings inside LB's do not have permanent markings that would allow greater then 3 conductors, when the conductors are #4 and larger.
So, is my interpretation correct that a raceway system as described above would not allow an LB to be installed in this raceway system?
