Correcting Power Factor AND utility Bills

We will eventually be charged penalty rates for power factors below 90%
Correcting power factor by the use of capacitor banks on motors through out a building.


Will that lead to higher utility bills because the Utility meter will record more accurately
Or
Will the bills stay basically the same,because current is reduced and Voltage is increased?
 
They will stay the same because you are not changing the amount of watts you are using, it will just be cheaper for the utility to get your power to you. (Thats the basic answer, the technical one has been discussed at length here many times, you will find all sorts of good stuff if you search the forum for power factor correction)
