Re: correction or not??

I can't find the wording that you are describing 760-26(B) with. I checked the 2002 and 1999 NEC.

Re: correction or not??

I can't see how 760-26(B)would have anything to do with this however I do get your point.

It all boils down to whether residential 120v interconnected smoke detectors constitute an NPLFA system. Article 760 is not clear on this but I think the intent is that NPLFA detectors and other equipment work behind or with a fire system panel per FPN 1.

Re: correction or not??

If you read the fpn to 760.1, you will better understand that line voltage smoke detectors are not part of a 'system'.

You can be glad that you have not been screwing it up all your career :D

A quote out of Noel Williams' book, Limited Energy Systems, p. 108 & 109.
"However, in order to be listed and considered as a fire alarm system, the components of the system must be connected to and monitered by a central panel such as the one shown in figure 4.1. Article 760 is primarily concerned with those systems that have a central control panel and not with interconnected stand-alone detectors such as those commonly used in new single-family homes."

The UL White Book has a wealth of information in, General information for Selected Categories from the Fire Protection Equipment Directory. Which I am too lazy to type/paste :D
