what is the code about placing or more specifically replacing a panel box in a corrosive location such as a swimming pool's pump room. All of the equipment is rusting badly, and the customer just wants new equipment.

In short. No exposed NM or MC. (MC must have an impervious coating if exposed)

Nothing specific about it code wise for pool equipment rooms - but there aught to be.... I'm suprised there is not more demend for non-metalic panels and equipment... (Where in Europe - it seems to be the norm - and well made to boot.)

The enclosure alone will NOT make much difference as the components inside a SS or fiberglass reinforced resin will rot away. Just cosmetics.

Can you ventilate the room? Where is the corrosive gas coming from? I install electrical in chlorine rooms, there is very little gas normally, so don't see a lot of corrosion.
Use all PVC conduit, boxes but no electrical panels in the room.

Thanx for the input

Section 110 discusses the location issue. The corrosion is caused as far as I can tell by the Chlorine etc... However they have also placed pumps in front of the meter. What I am afraid of is the inspector not allowing breakers panels in the pump room! Im not happy about it, Im fairly sure the inspector wont be either
