Hey guys, I got a job that requires cove lighting. Unfortunatley for me there's no lighting schedule. That being said I got the task of putting together some of the lighting that isn't pre-determined. I've been searching the net for a while for a good cove light and am having some trouble, can anyone here give me some feedback on a good inexpensive cove light for a commercial space? I plan on using florescent lighting, but I've been finding a lot of rope LED lights when I search for cove lighting. What fixtures would you guys use for cove lighting if you had the option? Thanks for any feedback.

In a commercial space, I would say to use staggered strips.
They will give you even lighting without the maintenance headaches of incandescent lighting.

I've used single lamp flour. for coves. But there are a few options depending on budget .Ask the GC for a recommendation of what they are looking for.Can you access the cove easily to change out bulbs if need be?

The first step is to draw out a floor plan, note in detail, the floor layout, and existing, ceiling plan, what is the owner trying to accent with the lighting, send a copy of this rough plan, to your lighting designer, we use our vendors designer, he provides us with a finished layout, and lighting schedule, with varied options, and pricing selections.

delivering your customer a prosessional job, usually has good results, and save you the disaster of thiis lighting is not working out.

If the whole job is based on price, when good luck with the outcome.

I second that motion. Two lamp, stagger strip fixtures.

This is in my hands, this is a lobby with a soffit shaped like 'U' with the fixtures running around the 'U' shaped soffit. The framers didn't leave me the working space I asked for, but that's not such a big deal as I'm sure I can get the light in. I would like to use either a single lamp flor. or the staggered option as mentioned. That said is there any manufacturer you guys know of? This isn't a hand-off situation as it has already been handed off to me, they are not accenting anything other than the cove itself, I just need lighting to put in there. I'm just looking for a good brand/manufacturer to use for a typical cove.

If you want stagger strip fluorescents, it could be any brand. They're all the same. If you want something different or special, National Specialty Lighting has tons of options in that regard. Somthing like the Bright Strip might be interesting to you, but I see a maintenance nightmare if you choose anything other than fluorescent.

Make sure you meet 410.9, and I installed a lot of fluorescent lights that came pre-staggered... they were twin lights of course and not sure how much room you have to work with...
