Put a 2 gang mudring with 2 receptacles then put a 2 gang receptacle plate.
I don't know of any 1 gang plates that would fit.

Thanks for the info and thats probably what I'll try to do but room is limited inside the box...I thought I saw a place that takes a blank 4x4 or ?? and you could have them in any configuration. Thanks, Jerry

Are you trying to put a single receptacle on a 2 gang mudring? THat will be tough, since you don't have holes for it in the middle.

BUT, if you have enough room to replace the 2g ring with a 1g ring (should be easy if you are using 4S boxes, 5S you are in for some work). They make a plate that's 2g wide with a single rec in the middle.

Leviton Stainless: S748-N

Edit: There does exist a blank on the left and rec on the right plate:
Lev WHite Nylon: N138-W
Lev SS : S138-N
Check out Section E in Leviton's catalog for other combos.

Not sure I understand the request....

A 1900 box should be set back to allow the appropiate ring to sit flush with the finished surface - no "retuexturing" of the finish wall should be neccessary, unless the rockers are complete butchers.

Something like this:

You have the box, mount and ring. You will have just the front surface of the ring exposed after the wall is finished. (This is a single gang application with a "deep" ring ~ typically for double rock or in a cabinet location like for a MW over a stove)

If the edge your 1900 box is flush to finished wall, with a flat single gang cover...the install was simply done incorrectly....sounding very much DIY.

Celtic these are existing receptacles in a office/warehouse building and what was there before was a steel coverplate with a single duplex outlet mounted in the center, the only problem was that they stuck out aprox 1/2" from the wall and the customer wants them to be flush. I replaced the existing coverplate with a flat 4S mudring with the single duplex in the center and now want to cover the exposed area on the sides with a coverplate instead of having to mud, texture and paint. This guy is a PITA but has given me quite a bit of work and refferals. Thanks Mike I did find (3) coverplates through Leviton that I might be able to use. One has the rec pushed to the right with a blank, one has the rec pushed to the left with a blank and one in the CENTER of a 2-gang stainless steel coverplate.
Thanks to all again for your help/info and Celtic you could turn down the intensity of that DIY sniffer just a little:grin:
