Cross sectional area exam question...Help

Exam question on the Texas ICC Masters Exam

Find cross sectional area in inches.

Given ...
Four #12 THW
Three # 10 THHN
Five # 8 THHW

Answers are...
A) .4453
B) .5671
C) 1.925
D) 2.346

Too save my life I could never get any of these answers.
It's not like cross section area is a rocket science. But It just P's me off not to get it.
So, if you get one of these, can you please explain to me what how you got it?

From Table 5, Chapter9
#12 THW =0.0181 sq. in
#10 THHN=0.0211sq. in.
#8THHW=0.0437 sq.in.
The correct answer is not in your list.

This is a geometry problem, not an ampacity question. Why would carrying current alter the geometry? :?
