Hi everyone I'm pretty sure I'm right about this and I believe it's just one of those old wives tales but are you allowed to cross wires line and load inside of a disconnect I attached a drawing hopefully you understand what I mean. Basically this is the only way that I could set this up and I can only come out of the meter on the bottom which means I would have to type into the right side of the disconnect and wrap it around in order to get my line side wires to the top plug which means inside the disconnect the wires would be Crossing each other

If, like in an AC disconnect, the terminals are labeled line and load, hooking them up backward would probably be a 110.3 violation.

having the wires physically cross over one another is not a problem.

Lol ya I usually leave them on the uni strut behind the plywood then there gone forever

I don't plan on feddding the load side of the disconnect it's really just a piping issue . And yes its all coming down I had to mock it up to get correct height the Poco here is very strict with there meter hights

If you energize the load side with line, the knives will be hot when the disco switch is opened. Dangerous if someone isn't paying attention.
That isn't what he is asking about. He just wants to bring his service conductors into the bottom of the enclosure. He still will land them on the line side of the switch.

Looks like a 230.70(A)(1) violation from here.
How much service conductor is allowed inside a building isn't clearly written in NEC and is interpreted differently around the country.

Here that probably is a violation - general allowance by AHJ here is five feet of service conductor inside a building (per allowed set of conductors). Most POCO's here won't allow indoor metering equipment so we wouldn't see such an installation anyway.
