CSST Settlement Information

A nationwide class action has been filed on behalf of any and all persons and/or entities who own structures in the United States in which CSST manufactured by Titeflex, Ward, OmegaFlex or Parker Hannifin was installed as of September 5, 2006. Plaintiffs allege that CSST poses an unreasonable risk of fire due to lightning strikes. The Settling Defendants deny these allegations and assert that their CSST is safe if properly installed in accordance with local codes and the manufacturers? instructions.

The Proposed Settlement is a compromise of disputed claims and does not mean the Settling Defendants are liable. If you wish to claim the benefits of the Settlement, you must submit a fully executed Claim Form by September 5, 2007. You may complete and submit a Claim Form online or request that a Claim Form be mailed to you.

For more information regarding the Settlement, on submitting a Claim Form, or opting out of the Settlement, please visit the website: www.CSSTsettlement.com

The Court will decide after a hearing on February 1, 2007 (the ?Fairness Hearing?) whether to finally approve the Settlement.

Thanks for the info. But what is CSST? I don't know if I have it or not.

Edited to add: OK, so it's "Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing." I still don't know if I have it or not.

Charlie,

Typically it is a yellow flexible tubing used for running natural gas.
HERE IS A LINK to Gastight and there engineering specs for CSST.

CSST is becoming very common in my area.

OK, Chris. Now you have me worried. I was just playing with you on the "do I have this stuff" stuff. ;) I thought this had to do with the type of tubing used as structural supports for a tool shed.

I do have some of that type of piping under my house. I had it installed last February when we bought the house, in order to bring propane from my new tank to my gas stove. Now I have to figure out if it was the same brand as the one related to the settlement.

I have wondered about all the other brands as well. There are quite a few companys out there that manufacture this product. I have dealt with 3 major brands in my area, none of which seem to be part of the settlement.

Charlie, just run if you hear a thunderstorm on the horizon.:D
