ct metering

Thank you in advance -
we have done many residential 200A and 300A services - but the elec coop is suggesting CT metering so further expansion is possible
attached is the diagram - and I want to make sure we are not missing something -

basically our work is gutter to disconnects from CT meter can -

we will splice and service all 3 200A cables with 3/0 cable -
but should we upgrade this to 4/0 to match weather head riser cable? and enter 200A Dis with 3/0 thus splicing 4/0 - to 3/0

Conductor size for conductors that serve multiple service disconnects may be sized to the load calc, not the sum of the disconnects it serves. I am not sure from your description if you have this situation or just multiple sets of service conductors. I see no reason to match larger than necessary existing conductors. The riser conductors will be exempt from the NEC rules if they are on the utility side of the service point.

Why do you need to splice? You arent just running from the load side of the Ct's? Or do you have one set coming off the CT's and need to split it to each disco?

Regarding splicer type, depends on what kind of mood Im in and how cheap I am that day. Set screw butt splices are probably the cheapest, but take time to tape and have limitations. Polaris type are sweet but pricey.

Splicing - from Ct to gutter (1-set 3 wires) - and then from Gutter to 3 -200A disconnects - I do not know how to get 3 taps off 1 wire without splicing? I am open to learning -

have not seen CT can yet - provided by Coop - but suspect one set of lugs -

I doubt a 400 amp CT would have 1 lug.. note the lugs may be easily changeable too, or maybe you have to supply them (that's the way 400 amp meter sockets are supplied here) There is also nothing wrong with tapping off one set, just may be cheaper and easier the other way. Depends how that CT is set up.
