So a customer asked for a suggestion for current monitoring for a 1000V motor. It normally runs about 1300A. Not exactly a small motor.
So, I went looking. I figure how hard can this be. I do not find anything suitable with insulation rated for 1000V.
All the manufacturers tell me not a problem since the motor wiring provides adequate insulation. I think this makes sense and something I found in the code seems to support that, but I cannot put my finger on just what it said right this second.
What do you guys think about this product? Anyone ever use it?
No need to unhook the motor wires to install the sensor around the conductors.
