yep, same prices around here as well.

I had a feeling prices would go up in the copper one day and as soon as I saw that price jump just a little I went down and bought just about every 250' roll of romex home depot had :D

It came out high in price but nothing compared to what it would have come out to today with these crazy copper prices.

Another funny HD story I came up to yesterday while getting a few switches:

A plumber didn't like the copper prices so instead of using PVC he decided he was going to take a huge roll of copper pipe (about 75 pounds of it), load it into the cart, and proceed to try to just walk out the door with it (without paying)

security saw it easily and the guy went out with the cops

copper prices..........they will drive a man crazy with enough time.

IMO......Not worth typing about a THEIF!

Rumor has it that someone got a local home improvement center by changing the bar code labels on many thousands of feet of copper pipe to the bar code for PVC of the same size.

One would think a cashier would know the difference between copper and PVC, but ....

In the end, it matters little what the price of romex (or any other commodity is). Markup is markup. The customer pays in the end. I do try to get decent prices on my material, but I don't bend over backwards to do so. It is what it is.

I've heard that Lowe's now sells 200' coils, not 250'. Makes the prices seem cheap until you realize your short 20% of material.

A certain manufacturer of gum recently changed packaging on an old product that was not doing well in the marketplace.

Now WalMart is on allocation (as is everyone else) because they cannot make enough of it despite running the production line 24/7.

Never underestimate the power of packaging. It would not surprise me any to find out that their customer base preferred 200' roils over 250' rolls.

200' packages???! Marketers will do almost anything to change the taste of the mouthwash and sell it as what it was before...Caveat Emptor

Just bought a few thousand feet today, $280 per 1000 of 12-2 from my supplier, the were having a sale. last week I paid $344 per 1000'. Hopefully it's heading down, don't dare buy too much at once.
