Can any one recommend a free or low cost program for tracking customers?
I would use it for my classes, actually, but want to track students by class date, with name, city, electrical license number

I enter the information into my regular contact / address list, then add / link the contact to a group that reminds me where I know people from.

Google contacts does it really well.

Agreed.

If you don't want them syncing on your phone you could work around it, but I'd call that a feature.

Excel makes for a fine flat file database. And can serve as an ODBC source if you want to access it from a real database.
