Come on guys, it's a pipe bender.

[h=1]Gardner Bender redesigned the B2000 Cyclone electric conduit bender, a single shoe, single unit conduit bending solution, to reduce the time, resources and fatigue involved in making repeatable conduit bends for EMT conduit, IMC conduit, RIGID conduit 1/2 to 2-inch and 1/2 to 1 1/2-inch PVC conduit Coated with Rigid Aluminum. A new circuit board with diagnostics makes the re-engineered Cyclone conduit bender the only powered conduit bending solution to diagnose problems during power-up or operation, expediting maintenance and repair. This built-in intelligence includes a circuit verification phase at power-up, checking the complete electrical system for failures before use to ensure proper operation. In addition, the Cyclone conduit bender features an ergonomic pendant control design which allows one-hand operation.

Thanks. I had a feeling it was a bender.

It's also another name for temporary fencing. Sometimes we need to put up cyclone fences around our work areas, especially if there is digging going on.

Both names are derived from brand names.

Technically, only Gardner Bender makes Cyclone benders. But any bender of that configuration may be called a cyclone bender. Or a sidewinder.

Learning trade names and slang is not a precise science. I play around with ham radio and emergency communications. One rule we have is to speak plain English. We don't use codes (no 10-4s) or slang.

There is still room for errors even then. I was monitoring a disaster drill with Ham support for an included communications outage. The hospital asked what an ambulance's ETA (estimated time of arrival) was. The driver answered "ETA 10" meaning in ten minutes. The Ham dutifully related an ETA of 10:00. (30 minutes later.) :) Using Estimated Time of Arrival instead of ETA would not have made a bit of difference.
