I was wondering if such an animal exists.
I am currently wiring a house that has 3 levels of porches.
I am fine with the top level. But my concern is the 2 lower levels.
They are under roof but open on 3 sides.these porches will be floored with wood.I am concerned about blowing rains, and the water getting in the fan box,
and causeing problems. There is going to be 3 fans on each porch.

Is this exposed ceiling joist or is there sheetrock or bead board on the ceiling? Where I have seen these installs the builders usually put a rubber membrane so water does not get trapped in the ceiling. If the flooring up above is the ceiling below (exposed joists) then I would build an area that is water tight because even with a damp location box the water will get into the fan canopy since it is bigger than the box.

There is going to be some kind of ceiling . At this point I don't know what the builder has in mind. Thanks for the reply. This is good information.
I will check with the builder,to see if he is going to put down some kind of,rubber membrane.
