Damp location

Do 24VDC devices have to be rated for a damp location if installed outdoors? I want to mount an occupancy sensor in the ceiling of a canopy, but it doesn't say anything about being suitable for a damp location.

Voltage rating is not important when discussing environments. Never put a device in an location for which it is not rated.

Thanks. It just doesn't seem like any motion sensors carry a damp or wet location rating.

I found a dual head floodlight with a sensor mounted on it that is rated for a wet location. But the sensor is also available by itself, but the catalog doesn't list a wet or damp rating for it.
