Do most damper motors require a disconnect ?Our prints show nothing , yet on the handibox their is a schematic showing two switches with a short and long red and yellow going to the line side and then the same out to the load. If you would have to work on that unit then you would have to shut down all the damper units and then reset .We still have no word.California, gotta love it

Re: damper motors

I would say yes a disc required.I know I wouldn`t want to be there when one kicked in as I worked on it.But then again everyone else would be getting out too.FIRE !!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Re: damper motors

What type of damper motor are we speaking about? Many of the Fire Smoke Damper motors I've seen are 1/8 HP or less so the branch circuit OCPD can serve as the disconnect. No additional disconnect is required. Look at 430.109(B).

Re: damper motors

We usually install a toggle switch at the location if we do any thing at all.

In many installations the dampers are pneumatic.
