Hi, has anyone ever installed a Danfoss heated floor mat 088L3178 in a shower? I've never heard of being done before or if it's even allowable by code. Also is it possible attach one floor mat to another to extend it?

I have done one but it was low voltage and designed for showers. I think it is ridiculous as the hot water will heat the shower-- a waste of money, IMO. I talked a customer out of it and when she heard the hot water would heat the floor she said "oh yeah."

I have installed line voltage floor heat in a shower, I forget the brand though. You need to make sure it's specifically listed for use in a shower area. I made sure I had all my ducks in a row for when the inspector called, and he did. He didn't really like it, but it was good to go.

I also think its a dumb dumb idea and told the homeowner the same thing, that the water heats the floor. They still wanted it, so I put it in.

You can't connect two floor kits in the floor. You need to run both sets of leads up into the thermostat and splice them together there.

Yes, I emailed Danfoss today to ask specifically about putting it in a shower and they had said it was okay to do so. However I don't think I'll mention it to the homeowner as an addition as he didn't bring it up during the walk through. You are correct on needing to run an additional floor mat from the feed/thermostat box to extend the area of coverage. Thanks for your help guys!
