If you are asking if you can tell when it was "installed" then no, many manufacturers place a production date on the their products but the average shelf "stay" of NM-B is about 1- 2 months at best before it is installed but to get a solid date of "installation" you would be hard pressed as it could have been installed anytime after the production date (Month/Year) and the date of your inspection or encounter.

A lot of wire and cable does have date stamped on it. But I don't think it is required and not all will have a date.

part of the UL 719 Requirement :

25.25 DATE OF MANUFACTURE ? The date of manufacture by month and year (or in the sequence
month, day, and year) shall be included among the tag, reel, or carton markings described in 25.15, or
shall be included among the cable markings described in this Standard where legible on the outer surface
of the cable. The date shall be shown in plain language, not in code.

Most all of the major manufacturers place it on the cable for batch review if issues come up in a specific production, we can link it back to the specific run and check TOI tolerances to determine if their was a extrusion issue and so on.

I stand corrected, but that is for UL listing which most conductors/cables that have a listing are probably listed at least by UL, what about other NRTL's?

I will speak for the cable manufacturers...lol..(edited).....they are all produced in accordance with the UL Standard. The other NRTL's validate the compliance to that standard.
