I have photocell with aux. contact rating of 220 volt, 6A single phase and i need to use it with 8 x 10 watt navigation lights at 48VDC.
Does it withstand the new load.

Let's see:

8 x 10w = 80w
80w / 48v = 1.67a

You're okay on current. Two questions:

1. Is the photo cell's switching a real relay contact?

2. Is the photocell rated for switching DC?

You may need to contact the manufacturer.

Another option: use the photocell to control a relay with an AC coil that matches the supply and contacts suitable for the load.

Hint: If you get a relay with more than one contact set, placing contacts in series increases their current-interrupting life.

Navigation lights that aren't on 24/7?

the photocell include its contacts which mean i make direct load connection to it without any aux. contacts or relays

I would have to say that a contact set should be able to handle a DC current of less than 1/3 and voltage of less than 1/4 of its AC ratings with no problem.
