Have die cast fittings become more expesive than steel in your area? It has here for a little while. Any good sugestions as to why. We usually use steel set screw or compression anyway because I beleive the extra cost is off set by ease of installation. Thoughts?

Die cast fittings have been more expensive than steel for a few years now. The reason is that zinc is a commodity that is market driven, and high demand worldwide has pushed the price up.

However, steel prices have risen dramatically over the past few months so the days of steel fittings being cheaper might be over soon. We have somone who works for a fitting manufacturer that posts here so he might chime in.
