I will be installing a dedicated 120 volt 20 amp circuit for an ice machine in a restaurant. I will have the ice machine on a cord and plug for a disconnect. My question is: does the dedicated circuit receptacle need to be GFCI protected?
What if it's not in the kitchen?
Then, nope. Barring any other circumstances.
Ice machine will be in the basement area of the restaurant. The area in the basement is used for some food prep. Not the kitchen area which is on the first floor. GFCI protection required for this dedicated circuit?
Kitchen. An area with a sink and permanent facilities for
food preparation and cooking.
Look into a disconnect and hard-wiring, like a water heater. It could be less expensive.
