Dedicated equipment space

Is there code that says not run conduit in dedicated equipment space of panel boards/switchboards/mcc’s if it’s not connected to it?
I was in a nec training class and I relied this being brought up, looked at 110.26e but I might be look at the wrong reference.

The NEC doesn't say that is has to be connected to the equipment if it's run within the dedicated equipment space of that equipment. It just says in 110.26(E)(1) "No piping, ducts, leak protection apparatus, or other equipment foreign to the electrical installation shall be located in this zone."
