Does the "dedicated equipment space" rule also apply for transformer and disconnect switches? (NEC 110.26 only list panels, switchboards and MCC). Thanks!

I would interpret it to only include equipment locations from which it is likely that additional raceways or cables may be run. That would not include transformers or safety switches, IMO. 110.26(F).

I agree. Since there is a specific list, and since there is no "and similar items" sort of statement, I infer that the rule only applies to the items on that list. This makes sense to me, since I believe that the rule is intended to allow space for future installation of conduits.

Transformers are the shelf where the building maintenance staff stores all their liquid cleaning products, aren't they?

Seriously:

110.26 Spaces About Electrical Equipment

Sufficient access and working space shall be provided and maintained about all electrical equipemnt to permit ready and safe operation and maintenance of such equipment.
(A) Working space. Working space for equipmnet operating at 600V, nominal, or less to ground and likely to require examination, adjustment, servicing, or maintenance while energized shall comply with the dimensions of 110.26(A) --(1), (2), and (3) as required or permitted elsewhere in this Code.

Jim's right. It doesn't specify. I'd say switches/discos. could definitely be included in this.

Transformers still require sufficient space, even if they are not likely to be serviced or examined while energized, and it is considered to be under the perview of this article acc. to the NEC Handbook.

Jim and Karl: You are confusing "working space" with "dedicated equipment space." I believe the question refers specifically to 110.26(F).
