My question revolves around a "farm service", in which a meter enclosure is pole mounted, a distribution riser is installed (either overhead or underground) and tapped multiple times to feed several buildings on site. 240.21 requires OCPD at the point where the conductors receive their supply, and 230.91 requires the OCPD to be integral to or adjacent to the service disconnect. Where are these conductors considered to be receiving their supply? Is the installer required to have the main service disconnect at the pole or can they simply install service disconnects at each building? I have quizzed several inspectors in my local area and find a roughly 50/50 split on their interpretation.
