Delta Ground Rod Configurations

Anyone know anything about this? What are the advantages to installing in a Delta shape as opposed to 3 Linear rods.

I understand that a ground rod only is as good as a #6 but if you have multiple rods as in a delta configuration would a larger wire be necessary or desired. I have seen diagrams with larger conductor like 3/0 attached to the delta system.

I know I have done 2 of them, both Govt. jobs, same EE.

Three 20'׾" copper rods 20' apart. 3/0 GEC as per specs. Does it help anything....?

You're no help...More curious if the delta makes any difference from a linear setup and why. Obviously you are either too old and don't remember or you just never knew. :grin:

All these things. Dennis, both installs were a couple years ago and I did try to pick the EE's brain. If I had learned anything worth while, I would have posted it here. IMO, window dressing.

That is my impression also but what do I know. Three rods has got to be better than 2 rods and 20' rods must be better than 8' rods but ....
