I have a question regarding the Main Breaker Derate, I know the 120% rule, that the main breaker derate is done when we do the Back Feed Breaker connection. But if we make the Load Side Tap connection, we have to derate the main breaker when we have for example more than 40 Amps of solar back feed. Is it necessary or not? Could you help me with that.

Trace the path of the inverter current from the PV inverter to the utility. Any panelboard which can receive both utility current and inverter current, on two different connections, needs to comply with one of the rules in 705.12(B). The 120% rule is one such option.
