I want to feed a detached garage overhead with a single 120 volt 15 amp circuit, what option is there beside triplex? Seems like overkill. I'd like span it with UF

So what qualifies as a messenger cable? Aviation wire? And how do you lash it to the messenger? Cable ties seem too temporary and weak.

A few years back I use a 3/16" coated cable, as the messenger, and 12/2 UF with cable ties, both Sunlight Resistant. I used wedge clips to attach the coated cable to the House & the Garage.

For sure you don't want to use cheap tie wraps, get a quality UV resistant tie wrap and they will last fine. I would keep the spacing very close, like 6" to 10" apart.

i think Blake Shelton sings a song about this type of Installation.
