I’m planning on running a 60A service to my detached garage. I’m comfortable wiring from the main panel to the sub panel. My hang up is installing a disconnect where the service enters the garage. I know code requires one but I’m not sure what type of disconnect I need and how to wire it. Most of the disconnects I’ve seen pertain to AC units or other appliances. I’ve found lots of DIY detached garage service installs but no one seems to be using a disconnect. Unfortunately, I live in an area where most electricians I’ve contacted won’t give me the time of day because they’re too busy with higher priority or paying jobs. I just need a little push in the right direction here.
