I am new here. I could b ot find what I was looking for. I am installing a 100 amp sub panel to a detached garage approx. 70' from my main panel in my house. I spoke to a supply place l locally and they said #2 aluminum would be fine to run as the feeder and is a lot cheaper than copper. I am going to put about 23 120v receptacles in the garage. I was going to just use all 20 amp wire within the garage. Typical stuff like lights, table saw, power tools, small air compressor. The guy said I do not need a grounding rod at the garage because the ground will come from the main panel at the house. I swear I read online that a detached garage needed a separate ground. I am wanting to do this myself due to the over 2,000 dollar price for a contractor. Also, the feeder will be installed and buried in conduit. I just wanna be sure to do things correctly. Thanks all.
