So this garage has an existing 12-3 wire coming into an old small fuse box. They want to get rid of the fuses. Is the best way to come into a double pole switch and then jump out to the two circuits?I don't think I need to do any rods either? or is there an easier/ better way? Thanks

You have a MWBC, providing it is fed from each leg of the main service or whatever it is fed from. A MWBC can count as a single branch circuit in this case so you are good there and also with the switch or switches if you choose to have two. No GES required.

Use an unfused AC pullout as the required disconnect. Or a double pole, single throw switch.
