Situation: Detached garage is being serviced a single branch circuit. 3/4" rigid w/ 2 #12(H,N) and a #12ground from main panel to garage where it will feed a few outlets and lights. Circuit is being protected by a 20 amp breaker in the main panel. Does this installation require a seperate disco. at the garage and does it need its own EGC?

It requires a disconnecting means which could be a single pole switch. The metallic raceway can be used as the EGC. A GES is not required.

Yes it needs a disconnect. If it is a single circuit then just install a switch as a disconnect and mark it as disconnect.

You don't need a separate equipment grounding conductor because as you mentioned the circuit already has one.

I apologise for my error.....I meant, does this set up require a seperate "Grounding electrode" and my question was answeared. Thanks! If the same conductors were ran in PVC, would it then require a seperate GES?

No grounding electrode needed, as long as it is a single circuit and it has EGC running with the circuit.

No the GES requirement is for when the structure is served by a feeder not a single branch circuit or a MWBC. Either way (feeder or branch circuit) you'll need an EGC installed with the circuit conductors.

Confusion exists because of the terminology. EGC- equipment grounding conductor is needed from one structure to the other. GEC- Grounding electrode conductor would be required at the garage connected generally to the ground rod and to the grounding bar in the garage panel. The neutral is isolated from the GEC.
