Hey guys caught a demo job on a storage shed property. Theres probaly 8-10 multiple units on this piece of property. The original ec appears to have fed all of these units from one central location. My question is this. Are we now looking at a code violation since each unit is a seperate structure that would require its own means of disconect?

They would require a disco but it could be just a single pole switch. Need more info.

If each is fed with only one circuit then, no.

Means shall be provided for disconnecting all ungrounded conductors that supply or pass through the building or structure.

I believe you are thinking about the exception to 250.32(A) for a grounding electrode at a separate structure.

Exception: A grounding electrode shall not be required where only a single branch circuit, including a multiwire branch circuit, supplies the building or structure and the branch circuit includes an equipment grounding conductor for grounding the normally non?current-carrying metal parts of equipment.

What we saw since we couldnt get into every storage shed since only a few are getting demoed was one maybe two circuits for each 20? sheds. Each individual shed had a wall switch and keyless fixture. The other circuit was used to feed security lights on exterior walls ran through the units. We never found the origin of power. I know we shouldnt work it hot but we did. We disconnect the wires at the last unit we could get into then pull wires and ent out. On the last unit I think we found the jboxes for the complete units of sheds. They piped what looked like 2in emt into these boxes overhead they then went into exterior walls and through the slab to the other units? Would love to have the time to trace this all out but the company I work for is a hurry up and get it done bare min company. In thinking about the jboxes what scares me is there were multiple circuits in the larger jboxes. Also they fed the last units with 10wire and Its a long way from the suspected first panel .I might convince my partner to look at the area where we think power originates at and see what is actually going on on this premises
