Detectors in Clerestory?

I was visiting a job site yesterday where there was a small kitchen that had a sloping clerestory of sorts. The lower ceiling (near the door) had a heat detector on it. The oven was located in the corner underneath the highest portion of the clerestory. I questioned whether a device would be needed at the higher ceiling, but couldn't recall if there was something in the code so I kept my mouth shut. Anyway, have you guys ever dealt with any situations like this (code references please!)?

Thanks!! :D :D

With regret, I admit that I have nothing to offer to the person asking the question. But I will save everyone else the trouble of trying to figure out what a "clerestory" might be. I had no idea, so I looked it up. My dictionary describes it as an architectural feature, "a portion of the interior rising above adjacent rooftops and having windows admitting daylight to the interior."
