I have a fancy-schmancy load monitoring device I just installed in my main panel to track power consumption. It's a listed device, but I was curious if there was actually anything in the Code that would prohibit this, or specifically allow it. I live in a pretty small town, and the electrical inspector would probably laugh at me if I tried to get a permit before I installed it.
I had to make a few splices to connect the CT leads, so I know I was supposed to do a fill calc for the cross-section of the wiring space(312.8), but how would I account for the volume of then unit itself? It's pretty small, and doesn't produce much heat, or interfere with wire-bending space. My gut says it's totally safe and compliant, but wondering if UL-67 has anything to say about this.
Note: It's wireless on the communication end, so there's no CAT5e involved.
