NEC 550.17 requires dielectric testing of the wiring in a mobile home or manufactured home. What other code articles require similar testing?

I have no idea why that requirement is in the NEC. Mobile and manufactured homes are not built to the NEC. They are built to a HUD standard. Other than the service connection, the NEC only applies to changes made after the home has been in use. The requirement appears to be aimed at the construction of the home.

Dielectric Testing for manufactured buildings

I found a similar requirement in 551.60 for RVs. I work for a fabrication shop, we build measurement skids and analyzer buildings for the gas and oil industry. Our buildings should fall under 545 manufactured buildings. The State of Texas has a certification program for buildings going to Texas, and they have adopted 550.17 as a standard. Not much we can do but comply, but it made me curious. I can have a large standalone building such as our shop wired and requires no such testing, but our little 8' x 12' control building is required to have dielectric testing done on the wiring. Oh well!
