Hello,
I was requested to install several utility receptacles in a diesel fueling building. I have read in the 2005 NEC, Article 514 section 514.3(A), that if the AHJ determines that the liquid has a flash point 100 degrees F or higher, that the location shall not be required to be classified. As I read this, this facility can be wired without being treated as a normal gasoline dispensing facility. I know this is up to the AHJ, but I know that diesel fuel has a FP of 100 degrees and higher depending on the type. I am going to wire it as a class 1 division 1 facility, in the event they do one day store gasoline, and I am not trying to split hairs, but this seems like a gray area. Has anyone come across a similar situation, and what did you do?
