dimmer switch type and placement

I'm planning on purchasing and placing a dimmer switch
in the circuit I've started working on.
There will be four light fixtures between two 3 way switches.
Both switches have direct source power access.
Any suggestions on the type of dimmer and placement location?

Thanks

Any "three way" dimmer switch rated for the type of light used is acceptable. Some LED's or fluorescent lamps/luminaires are not rated to be dimmed.

Just a regular dimmer (incandescent or LED/CFL) will only dim at one end, the other will just be a normal 3-way switch. Lutron makes dimmers that work on both ends. There is a master dimmer switch at one end and a slave dimmer at the other. Without looking, I think they are the Maestro line.
