I have a 3 gang nm box and want to put 3 dimmers in it. 1 dimmer load is 350 watts,1dimmer load is 450watts,and1dimmer is150watts . There are 5, 14-2and 1,14-3 in box is this legal?

and what is the wattage ratting of the dimmers. Where are you placing which ones in the box. Removing which heat sinks and derating the dimmers ???

dimmers

the 1 with 150 watts in the middle both sides must be broken and the 450 watt on right side with right tab off and 350 watt on left side with right side tab off

It's legal.

My rule of thumb is for every slot you have to bring a wire in a box, that many wires can go into that box. As long as they are #14-2, which are the smallest wires you can use.

Your biggest worry is overloading the dimmer with too many watts. The standard is 600W as you metioned and they'll do just fine on those circuits.

Bo, welcome to the zoo! :smile:

At 2 cu.in. per conductor, five 14/2's and one 14/3 = 26.
At two conductors per device, three dimmers = 12
At 2 cu.in, all EGC's = 2
Total = 40 cu.in. minimum box required

If these dimmers have break-away tabs for adjacent mounting, you should mount the dimmer with the smallest load in the center of the box.
