I want to understand more about these issues. I know that dirty power has to do with a fluctuation in the voltage sine wave. What are some examples of the cause of dirty power? What is noise? What causes noise?

if your interested in noise and its affect on electronics, a great book to read is "noise reduction techniques in electronic systems" henry w. ott
it covers the various types of noise found within electronics, "grounding", shielding...

Dirty Power is an all encompassing non technical term.

There are several issues that fall under this term, sags, surges, brown outs, harmonics, neutral ground current issues, and many other issues.

Do a web search of any of the terms noted and you will get a wealth of information and with most web searches some helpful and some BS. There are tons of books available, from the Soares Book on grounding to numerous power quality books.

If you like a list of intro type books IM me, I'll replay Wednesday when I get into the office.
