Is there a limit on the distance between the disco and the mobile home it serves ?? Must the disco be 'in sight of ' the trailer?

Thanks Augie. Prop. owner's plan has 3 meter bank at a location where it would be out of sight of 1 unit. I wasn't sure about the distance requirement but was pretty sure you'd have to be able to see it.

Re: Disco to mobile home distance ??

Lot depends on how smart the inspector is.I had a piece of rental that actually do to a shed was not in site.He let it slide because if there was a fire they could clearly see the pole just to the left of the driveway and was only at tops 25 feet away and missed line of site by 1 foot.Had he been a hard a-- he could have made me move it forward 1 foot. Some times the inspector thinks about the reason behind the code.Idea is firemen can see it fast and turn it off.Never figured out why thats an issue to a mobile and not a building that may very well have the main ran under a slab and in the middle of the building with no chance of being turned off

A shed would fall under artcial 225 which 225.32 would require it at a readily accessible location nearest the point of entrance of the conductors? There is nothing that would just allow it "within sight"

Re: Disco to mobile home distance ??

550.32(A) allows the service equipment to be located more than 30' from the exterior wall or out of sight of the home provided that a disconnecting means suitable for use as service equipment is located within sight from and not more than 30' from the mobile home. Also, the exception to 550.33(A) allows you omit the EGC in the feeder run to this disconnect and use the grounding rules in 250.32(A).
