disconect feed thru ?

can i run thru an exsting pipe into a disconect then feed thru it [no splice ]and then keep going to feed a new motor disconect located near the first disconect. its a 2 inch pipe with 4 #6 copper wirers i need to get 4 more # 6 coppeer wires next to the 1st disconect .would run a new pipe but way to much in the way.both feeds will be feed from the same switch gear off different breakers ..thanks

ryan 618 do you know where i can find in the code book where its ok [if its in there].just want to be prepared when the boss asks thanks..

NEC 312.8 more or less prohibits this. Most disconnect switches do not have extra space for this purpose. Even though this is permitted if there is enough space it is generally considered to be gauche.

NEC 408.3(A)(3) also more or less prohibits this.

Where there can be a problem is if there are wires from one panelboard passing through another panelboard. This is both a fire spread problem and defeats deenergized only maintenance.

You would also need to derate for 6 or 8 current carrying conductors meaning that you very likely would have to upgrade the wires to #4 or #3.
