I am installing power for a 300 ton chiller. The units MCA is 600A, the max OCP is 700A. My question is the disconnect, do I need a 600A disco or an 800A? I am thinking 800A as it would need to be protected by the breaker correct?

440.12 states the rating will be 115% of the greater of the nameplate rated load current on branch circuit selection current, so it would seem
you could not get by with the 600.

Thanks, I had just found it also. In my head I was kind of remembering the exception and was a little confused.
