I have some duct heaters powered from a bus duct disconnect. The disconnect is lockable, but is not within sight, and not readily accessible. Does this disconnect satisfy the requirement for a disconnecting means?

I would suggest you read the appropriate code section and determine just what is required based on your actual situation.

424.65 Location of Disconnecting Means.
Duct heater controller equipment shall be either accessible with the disconnecting means installed at or within sight from the controller or as permitted by 424.19(A).

Re: Disconnect for Duct Heater

there are so many different conditions specified in these paragraphs that I still think you need to go look and see which ones apply to your situation.

Re: Disconnect for Duct Heater

I thought it was covered under 424.19(B)(1) of the 2002 NEC. I didn't realize there was another section specifically for duct heaters in 424.65. Looks like I need to add another disconnect for each heater.
