When installing an outdoor 8-kva automatic generator that transfers a dozen of loads inside a single-family dwelling, what is the required rating of the disconnect that has to be added if the one on the generator does not comply with 702.11?

You could use a service rated knife switch if you like. You doon't need to be concerned with amperage at that point.

The load a gen supplies would be limited by the name plate current of the gen.

The disconnect required in 702.11 has to be suitable for service equipment. Services are sized in accordance to the load they are supplying.

If your gen was supplying a load of 30 amps your disconnect would have to be sized to disconnect that load (30 amps)

The generator is not the "automatic" portion of the equation, the transfer switch is.
It is unusual for the manufacturer of these small generators not to have a properly sized disconnect at the generator.

Are you sure you are not speaking of the transfer switch (which is the may be the automatic part you are discussing)?

Jim when you say the Gen Disconnect does not comply with 702.11 what do you mean?
I was assuming you where referring to the gen. location.

I think what he means is, there is a breaker located inside of Generac and Seimans gen sets and it is not within a "service rated" enclosure.

That is exactly it...

Have you seen one that is listed as S.U.S.E.?

What is underlying in the question is, does 225.39 come into play?

Take a look at 445.13 exception. I would say that the disco would need to be sized to the OC protection of the gen. set.

You can get gen. sets with service rated OCP but it must be speck'ed when ordering the gen.set
