disconnect for hair dryer

On hair dryers that are attached to the wall like in motel room,and the on off button is on the dryer itself. Does this count as the disconnect when the dryer is hard wire into the wall. It is not a plug in.The cord is attached to the base. Does article 422-34 come in to play or article 422-31. Remember the on off is on the part you hold.

Should they...yes Do they always no. I always fiddle with things in hotel rooms and have found on two occasions the blow drier was on with the gfci

It is on a separate circuit that is gfi. I want to know since it don't plug in how do you disconnect the ungrounded conductors. Plug in type is the disconnect, that is why I included the two aticle about disconnect appliances.

I think as long as it has "off" and "on" it is considered a disconnect.
